Deciding Which Colour Carpet to Purchase

If you want to give your home that warm, comforting feeling then you need to sink your feet into a fluffy carpet as soon as you get home. The only problem is deciding what colour carpet will suit your current colour scheme.

When choosing a new carpet for your home, you need to make sure that you choose carefully. Knowing what colour carpet will suit your home's aesthetics is extremely important. This is largely due to the fact that carpets are an investment and often not a cheap one. Before you install your new carpet, you need to be sure that it is a colour that you can live with for a long time and that it complements the overall 'feel' of the room in which you place it.

There are a few ways that you can go about finding the perfect coloured carpet for your home. Firstly, do not look to the current trends. Unfortunately, trends come and go. The last thing that you want is to be landed with a purple carpet with green fringing for twenty years because it was "trendy" at the time. Secondly, do not look to the past. An outdated coloured carpet is just as bad as a "trendy" one. In order to enjoy the perfect carpet for your home, you need to pick a colour that is sensible, modern and that will not go out of fashion in five years time.

When choosing a colour, you need to be true to yourself and the aesthetic of your home. You also need to take into consideration the colour of the walls where the carpet will be placed. You do not want your walls and your carpet to clash. If you have a bold statement colour on your wall, you need to pick a more neutral colour for your carpet. Neutral does not necessarily mean boring beige - you can still choose an earthy warm colour that will add a wonderful sense of cosiness. These colours can include neutral stone, rozy quartz and khaki.

When deciding what colour carpet to buy, you also need to take into consideration the room itself. If the room has a lot of activity in it, your carpet may get exposed to spills and dirt. In this case, it is best to choose a colour that is not too light in order to prevent the stains from showing up. Also consider the room's space. If you are dealing with a smaller space, choose a lighter colour to give the illusion of more space. Alternatively, if the space is big and you want to create a cosier atmosphere, the colour can afford to be darker. When it comes to choosing a colour for your carpet, you need to remember that it needs to fit in with the rest of the room's aesthetic, as well as being able to stand the test of time. At this point, many would agree that choosing a neutral colour is still the best option when it comes to carpets.
